Members and guests are invited. Water is fast and a bit rough for the first couple hundred yards, then calms down as river widens. Lunch at Castle Rock State Park BYO.

People who want a short trip (~5 Miles) can get out here if they tell us before the car shift. Entire trip is about 11 miles.

Those joining need to supply their own suitable Canoe or Kayak, Paddle(s), and PFD (Personal Flotation Device) and wear the PFD on the water.
Bring your own lunch and hydration, we will stop at Castle Rock State Park for a break and to eat.
People looking for a shorter trip my get out there.
All adults must sign in on waiver sheet, and any minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
State Line Paddlers has no professional leaders, and hosts merely arrange the place and time of the event. All paddlers are responsible for their own safety and the safety of any minors accompanying them.
Dump bags, water proof bags with dry clothing, is strongly recommended.

Stateline Paddlers is hosting a trip on the Pecatonica River from Brewster’s Landing on Winslow Road  west of Illinois Route 26 to McNeil’s Damascus Landing on Sunday, Sep. 19, 2021. Landing at McConnell is about seven miles, It is an additional Seven
miles to McNeil’s Landing at Damascus. We will do the whole 14 miles,
but if someone wants a shorter trip, we can pick someone up that wants
to leave his/her vehicle at Bobtown on our way back from Damascus.  We will need to follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing. Car shuttle is at 10:00 from Brewster’s Landing, so plan to arrive by 09:45 for time to unload. Due to Covid-19, car shuttle will require that you were a mask and we drive with the windows down.
Currently high temperature for the day is predicted to be partly cloudy and 89°F.

We will meet at Yale Bridge on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at about 9:07 AM. The canoe launch is north of Sugar River Forest Preserve as shown in the map below. We will shuttle at 9:37 and try to be on the water 10ish.
The lower Sugar River is a winding river for moderate paddlers. It is usually a somewhat slower current however it is at higher water levels it can be stronger. It is has a sand bottom with some tree dams to go around. The section of the sugar we will run is from Yale Bridge Road to Two Rivers Forest Preserve. The trip will be all down river except for the last 1500 feet going upstream on the Pecatonica River to the take out in Two Rivers Forest Preserve. Bring a lunch or snack as we will be stopping on a sand bar along way if we can find one. I will go over a few pointers about paddling on a river just before we put in for the beginners if we have any.
The short trip will be 7.6 miles or about 3.5 hours weather permitting of course. If you want to do a longer trip you can also paddle to Macktown that is about 16 miles. Jeff Reuter will be hosting this paddle for more info call me on my cell at 815-494-8502. Here is a map of where we will be.

I am hosting a StateLinePaddlers trip on the Rock River from Beloit to Riverside Park.    We will meet at 9:34 with the car shuttle at 10:00. This should allow us to be on the river at 10:30. We will meet at the launch site at 4th St (Route 213), Beloit, WI in the bicycle co. parking lot. 

The GPS location is 42.500399,-89.037428 if you use it.  For a shorter trip, if there is interest, we can run a second shuttle to Macktown FP. It is about a 6.5 to Macktown and 13 mile trip to Riverside Park.

We will stop for lunch at the Rockton Dam that we have to portage around.
The long term weather forecast calls for sunny, and 87°F.

I am hosting a State Line Paddlers trip on the Rock from Oregon to Grand Detour on Sunday 8 November. This is the last trip of the year that I will host. The trip is about 11 miles.
Lunch stop is at Castle Rock State park, and if some want a shorter trip (about 5 miles), you can leave your vehicle there during the car shift.
Expect the water to be cold. Dress accordingly.
Weather prediction is cloudy, high of 70°F, winds s 12 mph with gusts to 24 mph. Warm, but windy. I hope the prediction holds. 70°F in November is rare.Plan on arriving by 09:45 to unload at East Park, Oregon , on the east side of the river just north RT 64 (about a 1/2 mile south of Lowden State Park) on River Road. Launch GPS coordinates 42° 1.037’N, 89° 19.520’W – Take out 41° 53.759’N – 89° 24.784’W.Car shift at 10:00. Masks and open windows for car shift are required do to COVID-19 rules.
